Sandrine Micossé-Aikins is an art historian, curator and cultural activist. Her work focuses on racism and empowerment in art, the power of colonial images, body politics, and representation and participation in the German-speaking art and culture scene. As a member of the artists‘ collective Metanationale, she conceived and curated the event series “Re/Positioning: Critical Whiteness – Perspectives of Color” (2009) and the exhibition “Making Mirrors: Of Bodies and Gazes” (2011); for the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa) she co-curated the internationally received exhibition project “prêt-à-partager: a transcultural exchange in arts, fashion and sports.” Currently she is also working on her doctoral thesis on hair politics in Ghana under the working title “PoC – People of the Comb.”
